Sadly, in the last year there were hardly any club gigs on my schedule while those are more preferable for me,
- if only because of the better working conditions.
Therefore, I worked mainly at summer festivals that, 'of course',
did not proceed smoothly, again. It really seems that the series of lens failures was only the beginning three years ago.
At the end of the 2013 festival season another problem came up,
- a big shock -
when my dear, loyal and always reliable digicam died suddenly for no reason…
then last year this was followed by the mysterious memory card error in the middle of the Milky Chance gig.
It wasn’t a pleasant feeling to be faced with the fact that three days’ work, over a thousand images just disappeared.
…and even the famous, experienced recovery specialists have been able to find no way to get lost data back… so far.
It has taken long months of hopeful waiting, already countless recovery methods have been tested,
but with no success, no result.
I think the last ray of hope has been snuffed out too when that brand-new,
"it’ll-definitely-be-good-for-you" reader – sent from Singapore – has also failed.
In almost all cases, data can be recovered even from dead or burned out devices,
but my nine-month-old card somehow has the ability to become completely unusable and get damaged in this way,
in this inexplicable and mysterious way…
This cannot happen… but even if it can, of course it happens to me! …
Even when I take into account that I'm 'radiant'
- extraordinary, but yes, I am -
and have always had some bizarre effect on the world around me, that’s a bit too much!
Yeah, unfortunately it’s true, sometimes – against my will –
I somehow can cause electrical disturbances or short circuits in electrical equipment with just one touch…
But again, all these bad happenings, all these digital disasters are too much!
Nevertheless I would like to take the opportunity to thank Milky Chance for that bad luck,
I’m totally sure I’ll go to your concert next time, too!
I’d also like to thank the one and only,
"global-leader-in-flash-memory-storage-solutions" SanDisk for their 'high' quality product and their useless guarantee,
furthermore, would like to thank digital technology
for showing me again how unreliable and crappy it could be…
Of course, I could also use Wi-Fi on my camera to send images to other devices, but if I use it for backup,
a number of issues arise. It’s not so great for fast shooting, keeps stalling or disconnecting…
Sending all images, such a large amount of data afterwards
- after every concert -
is time-consuming and a bit complicated process,
besides, it drains batteries of all devices very very quickly.
…stealing data over Wi-Fi also could be a problem, anyway. If my phone is the other device, more and more memory cards are needed… (yeeah )
If my tablet is the other device… actually it'd not be becasue I do not have one.
…using my notebook would be bad! There are strong reasons why he stays at home and rests
while i camp out at multi-day events or festivals…
and honestly I don't feel the need either to run around all day with more heavy stuff.
So, if the backup problem was solved in this way, I'd probably be less worried about photos,
but it is certain that only after a few days I'd not be able to straighten up because of the splitting back ache.
And anyway, in this case Wi-Fi is absolutely unnecessary when having USB port…
It’s totally stupid that nowadays, in the world of super-mega-hyper gadgets, when everything is super-smart and wants to think for me,
when my camera already has a touch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, special photo-editor and super-stuff like that…
Why is it still not possible to have built-in backup?? …especially for semi-pro and pro digicams.
…or why isn’t there the possibility to use them with two memory cards… ? or something… any solution…??…
I really don’t understand it!
…but maybe I’m the only person to whom it's so illogical…
Otherwise, there are countless good things and opportunities as well that digital technology gives us
and Heaven forbid I ever stand in the way of progress, but analogue world, all the analogue 'things' – mostly analogue photography – are more reliable for me and more importantly, are so much closer to my heart!
…analogue products are much more accurate, lasting and long-lived than any digital super-gadget,
…at least in my opinion.
…but, the bottom line and the sad fact is, lots of festival images have lost in the latest VOLT,
including all the concert photos of Bëlga, Foals, Hatebreed, I Am Legion,
Morcheeba, PASO, Quimby, Sunrise Avenue and also Woodkid.
Even though it seems every year has an unpleasant surprise for me, I’m still hoping this can change,
so this year will be much more different.
Hopefully the coming months will be equally successful and very eventful
– full of club gigs as well -
…oh, and of course will be totally free from any kind of digital disaster.
By the way, my main website – just like this one – is going to be completely redesigned soon and renewed by adding new galleries as well.
It’s true enough that not too many works have been created over the past nearly two years,
and sadly, lots of projects are still not finished…
but as always, I photographed a lot during my travels.
So mostly I’m going to upload kind of street photos which were taken in different cities
- and country - in Europe,
such as Amsterdam, Annecy, Bern, Bologna, Brussels, Cannes, Munich, Rimini, San Marino and Venice.
Moreover, there also are a lot of pictures of London which are needed to be uploaded.
So Please stay tuned I’ll be back soon with a large group of new photos, and as always, I am at your disposal
so if you have any questions or comments, or if you would like any information
do not hesitate to contact me; I’m weird though, but also very kind.
Take care everyone!
